COOPERATIVE MOVEMENT AND INUIT FEDERATION


Created to serve the needs of companies, organizations, workers, and residents of the far North; Voyages FCNQ is owned by the Nunavik Inuit cooperatives.

The first Inuit cooperative was founded in 1959 by the residents of Kangiqsujsuaq, under the auspices of the federal government. Initially focused on production it has since expanded into many other sectors, notably... tourism.

The Féderation des coopératives du Nouveau Québec was created in 1967 to provide essential services to the cooperatives. Funding for the Fédération comes from revenue generated by its own activities, primarily the oil industry and through commissions paid by the cooperatives for services rendered
